Adult Experience and Lifelong Learning

This is an ideal course for adult students desiring to gain university credit in an accelerated time frame. Students can earn 6 college credits for life learning gained for adult experience. Many of the topics are (but not limited to) Marriage and the Family, Single Lifestyle, Personal Finance, Parenting, Stress Management, Substance Abuse, Addictive Behavior, Interpersonal Communication, and Leadership. Students will receive instruction on how to write Life Learning essays using the Kolb model of writing, designed specifically for adult learners. They will receive 3 college credits for successful completion of the course where they will learn how to write the Life Learning essays, and an additional 3 credits for faculty acceptance of the papers, a total of 6 college credits. The Life Learning essays encourage students to reflect on their life experiences, develop principles learned as a result of those experiences, and discuss how those principles apply to new situations. Two basic tenets of this course are that students learn not only from the traditional approach of classroom instruction but that they also learn from experiences that take place in the real world setting. This learning is equivalent to courses offered by colleges and universities.
