Course Description:Students analyze the content and organization of exemplary writing found in published works of other researchers. Using scholarly publications as models, students examine the elements of effective writing and apply them to their individual papers. The following components are emphasized: exploring the research gap in a particular field of study; asking a significant question; developing a working hypothesis and thesis statement; writing an abstract, introduction, body, and conclusion; creating a literature review; developing the discussion and implications; integrating research; using academic voice; writing clearly and succinctly; integrating citations; and documenting sources.
